No-touch' Flow-Through Provisioning Solution for Wireless Service Providers

ABSTRACT:
Using traditional approaches to service fulfillment -- either manual or centralized at an element management system (EMS) level, a service provider cannot keep pace with the demands of the rapidly evolving networks, services, and subscribers. Manual and/or EMS-level service provisioning, in particular, is slow, complicated, and error-prone, forming a significant barrier to subscriber and revenue growth, customer satisfaction and retention. To meet the challenge, Alcatel-Lucent offered the Vital™ Wireless Service Activation Manager (SAM) based solution as an integral part of the operators billing and customer care system. Forming a team of architects, developers, system testers, integrators, and program managers from its global Alcatel-Lucent Services organization, Alcatel-Lucent rolled out and integrated the offered solution with multi-vendor network elements while working constantly with a divergent group of network equipment vendors (NEV) and system integrators.

This paper describes Alcatel-Lucent's provisioning solution (SAM) and the professional services, which have been instrumental in expanding the solution to cater to the multi-vendor network expansion undertaken by the operator, thereby improving its ‘time to revenue'.
