ABSTRACT:
Protecting sensitive corporate information and securing access to networks, applications and data are top priorities for IT organizations today. In addition, USB flash drives have become a particular security risk because they are frequently used to store confidential corporate data and can easily be lost or stolen.
Personal portable security devices (PPSD) are a new category of USB tokens that provide strong authentication and portable data security, leveraging a familiar form factor the USB thumb drive. Their ability to encrypt and store sensitive information and perform one-time password and certificate-based authentication with the smart card's cryptographic processor offers IT organizations a multi-purpose tool for secure network access and data loss prevention.
In this webcast, Mark Diodati, Senior Analyst, Identity and Privacy Strategies at Burton Group, will share his insights from his recently published report on PPSDs. In his presentation and discussion Mark will:
- Define the PPSD product category
- Discuss the potential for disrupting the enterprise strong authentication market
- Review use cases
- Describe initialization, personalization, and binding processes
- Provide specific recommendations for evaluating and deploying PPSD solutions
Following Mark's presentation, Tom Flynn, Director of Marketing Identity and Access Management at Gemalto, will discuss the Smart Enterprise Guardian, a new PPSD that is closely integrated with Microsoft's operating systems and identity management products. He also will describe how this unique device can easily be deployed in Windows® environments for strong authentication and PKI services without additional middleware or client software.
